Mayor Makes Keynote Address at Naturalization Ceremony

Mayor Lee delivered the keynote address at the naturalization ceremony held at Eastgate Elementary School on February 27, 2013.

Bellevue Mayor Conrad Lee, himself a naturalized citizen, told students and the new citizens, “We are all one nation.  We all share one thing in common:  We are all Americans!”  Lee immigrated to the US in the 1960s from China and his children attended and graduated from the Bellevue School District.  New citizens, their families and students also watched a special video message from President Obama, who recognized the long path they traveled to reach this day.  A short time later, the new Americans waved small flags as, one by one, they were presented with their citizenship certificates.

The event was featured both in the Seattle Times as well as the homepage of the Bellevue School District.  More coverage can be found at the Seattle Times website and the Bellevue School District news center.
