About Conrad
Conrad came to the United States with nothing. But now he is the symbol of the American Dream. He has lived the American Dream and he wants to make sure the American Dream can be a reality for all of us and our future generations.
Conrad Lee graduate of University of MichiganWith a strong work ethic and “can do” attitude, Conrad earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from the University of Michigan in 1962.
From 1962 to 1978, he worked as a Boeing engineer, marketing/sales manager, energy analyst and stockbroker.
In 1980, knowing the value of education, Conrad obtained a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Washington Business School.
From 1979 to 1996, Conrad worked as the project manager for the Seattle Solid Waste Utility. With a sight on environmental stewardship, Conrad helped develop the first recycling and resource recovery solid-waste management policy that is the model for many U.S. cities.
Being an entrepreneur at heart, he now owns a real estate investment business, providing affordable housing.
As a way of giving back, for the past 15 years, Conrad has fought hard for his constituents as a Bellevue City Council Member. He is the conscience on the Council representing the voices that need to be heard. He has kept Bellevue taxes low and helped businesses grow by making the right investments to ensure a city that is safe and has an excellent quality of life.
Now, Bellevue has one of the lowest property tax rates in the region. It is a great city that has one of the highest living standards and services in all of Washington. It is safe, economically vibrant and an excellent place to live, work and raise family.
Conrad Lee advocates for environmental stewardshipBellevue is known for its excellent public schools, safe neighborhoods, and strong business community. In the current economic crisis, Conrad is making sure that government must continue to make the right investments to protect its vulnerable citizens and businesses and prioritize its spending in order to weather the downturn to emerge stronger and healthier. With City Council’s vision and policies and responsible budgeting, and sound financial management, the City is poised to adapt and adjust to the changes, opportunities and challenges ahead.
For the past 15 plus years, Conrad has successfully led Bellevue in its changes and transformations and will do so again in the years ahead. What Bellevue needs now is Conrad’s experience and steady hand on the helm to guide the ship of city/state which Conrad has successfully done and continues to do since he was first elected to the City Council.
Conrad Lee supports universal equality and fairnessFor his exceptional services, Conrad has received national appointments to the Board and Advisory Council of the National League of Cities, and was elected the President of Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials.
Appointed by President George W. Bush, Conrad served as the Regional Administrator of the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
Conrad is dedicated father and husband. He is married to Winnie for over 43 years. They have two children, Chris and Jennifer and two beautiful grand-daughters, Lillian and Courtney.
